Pearl Place Apartments
Pearl Street is an inner city Urban Redevelopment project that will ultimately include 100 units of mixed income housing on 1.7 acres of land in Portland’s Bayside neighborhood. A wide variety of dwelling types are proposed including Live / Work studios for in home businesses, one bedroom units and 2 and 3 bedroom units for families with children. Mid-rise elevator structures of 6 – 10 stories are mixed with Low-rise 2 – 3 story walkup townhouses to create a lively mix of building forms that is sympathetic to neighborhood development patterns.
Two Mid-rise structures are located on busy Pearl Street to buffer traffic congestion and to form a sun trap on the northeast edge of the property – creating a landscaped covered parking court in the center of the site. The Building along Oxford Street drops down to 3 and 4 stories to compliment the scale of neighboring buildings there and takes advantage of existing terrain to incorporate additional covered parking under the apartment levels on the courtyard side.
The project achieved LEED for Homes Gold Certification and was awarded USGBC recognition as Outstanding Multifamily Project of the Year.
